Historic Cairns hotel has new owners

Courthouse-HotelWell known publican Derek Ransome has been appointed by Sydney-based Bodium Operations to run the 92-year-old Courthouse Hotel in Cairns as general manager.

Receivers and managers BRI Ferrier to C J M Hotel P/L relinquished control to new owners, believed to be IEF Real Estate Entertainment Group last week.
Mr Ransome said he was looking forward to developing and improving the facilities and staff were retained and he planned to enhance the history and heritage of the building.
"It has so much character and history that we should be telling people about, including the courtroom and the witness box," he said.
Mr Ransome said it should be promoted as an attraction for international tourists as well as appealing to residents as a local pub.
